To celebrate the quality of entries received and shine the spotlight on some of the incredible people giving their time to Rugby League in their communities, each day we will be featuring the story of a different shortlisted nominee for this year's SD Rugby League Community Champion Award.

Today we focus on Ben Moorhouse and Gaynor Thompson.

Friends, Ben Moorhouse and Gaynor Thompson are Bradford Bulls fans.

Having both read the late Steve Prescott’s book while holidaying in Rhodes, they felt that they wanted to support the Steve Prescott Foundation that raises funds for The Christie Cancer Hospital and Try Assist, previously known as The Rugby League Benevolent Fund, which aims to support players whose lives are affected by serious injuries while playing the game of Rugby League.

In 2015 Ben & Gaynor walked the full length of Rhodes, 70 miles, in August in extreme heat in 3 days and last year they completed it in 2 days!

This year their extreme challenge was to walk the 70 miles at the hottest time of the year in just 1 day.

They set themselves an unbelievable task and they successfully completed it and have raised over £6,000 for the Steve Prescott Foundation, a fantastic achievement which deserves some recognition.
