To celebrate the quality of entries received and shine the spotlight on some of the incredible people giving their time to Rugby League in their communities, each day we will be featuring the story of a different shortlisted nominee for this year's SD Rugby League Community Champion Award.
Today we focus on Marie Craig from Mersey Storm Wheelchair Rugby League Club.
Marie is one of the founding members of Mersey Storm Wheelchair Rugby League Club, formed 8 years ago and at 61 years old, with three grown children and eight grandchildren, Marie looks after her elderly mother and holds down a job working for retail chain T-J Hughes.
She washes and mends all the playing kits and training kits, she prepares all the food for both home and away teams for the end of every home fixture and she makes all the food for any private team functions that are held.
Marie is officially the club’s Welfare Officer and always goes above and beyond the call of duty to make everyone in the team feel safe, secure and happy.
If there is ever anything she herself can't deal with she will help find someone who can help and has a history of helping people through difficult times, always with a caring ear and an understanding smile.
Marie is a person that every club member looks up to and is a very inspirational hard-working woman.
