Following the Supporters Direct [SD] membership’s decision to vote to merge with the Football Supporters’ Federation, we are now in a position to proceed with a vote to transfer assets from SD to a new organisation formed with the Football Supporters’ Federation which will initially be a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG). Work is continuing to form a Community Benefits Society as the vehicle for the new organisation as advised in the statement sent by the Interim Board on 10th October 2018.
SD will now be holding a General Meeting on Thursday 22nd November 2018 at which the vote will be taken. The meeting starts at 13:30 (with registration starting at midday) and is taking place at Unite the Union, 128 Theobald’s Road, London, WC1X 8TN.
Whilst we would encourage all members to send a representative to this meeting, we understand that a midweek meeting in London is problematic and have therefore arranged for proxy votes to be accepted. Details on how to register a proxy vote has been sent to the Primary Contacts, Chairs and Secretaries of all SD full member organisations.
To confirm, a quorum of 50% of SD’s full members is required to vote with a 75% (of those of vote) majority in favour of the resolution set out in the notice.
As per the procedure set out on p42 of the SD AGM pack sent prior to that meeting in July, SD will be calling a further meeting to reinforce the first vote at a time, date and venue to be advised in the near future.
Following the SD General Meeting, the Football Supporters’ Federation will hold a General Meeting which you may be entitled to attend - they will communicate the details of the meeting to their members. There will be an inaugural General Meeting for the new organisation which will take place after the Football Supporters' Federation General Meeting. Further details of the General Meeting for the new organisation will be circulated soon.
