Liverpool FC supporters trust Spirit of Shankly have been instrumental in encouraging and inspiring supporters to donate to a funding initiative for Sean Cox, a Liverpool fan seriously assaulted before a Champions League Game in April.

The trust organised a funding raising campaign before the home match against Cardiff last Saturday and a number of volunteers heading down to help.  All together the trust and their team of volunteers raised £28, 725.17 through bucket donations.  The generosity of people, both Liverpool and Cardiff fans, is been inspiring.

Spirit of Shankly have worked closely with the club and LFC Foundation, official charity of Liverpool Football Club on this project.  The LFC Foundation has also match funded the amount raised as well as donating proceeds of £1653.75 from the match-day fundraising lottery held at the game – taking the overall total to £59,104.

The project and execution fundamentally shows the force of good that a supporters trust can be when working alongside the club and other partners.  Well done to all of those involved in organising the day as,  the volunteers who collected and those that donated.
