At supporter-owned Exeter City's match against Swindon Town on Saturday 13th October (happily won 2-0 by City), a presentation of an inscribed silver salver was made by Nick Hawker,Exeter City Supporters' Trust Chairman, to former player Steve Flack as scorer of the very first goal by Exeter City FC under supporter ownership - against Halifax Town on 9th August 2003.
15 years later, on Saturday 22nd September 2018, current striker, Jonathan Forte, had the honour of scoring the1000th goal under Trust ownership and it fell to Steve Flack to present Jonathan with his own silver salver commemorating that one thousandth goal moment. Both players were delighted to be honoured in this way.
It is sometimes hard to believe that fifteen years have passed since that very first goal but few could argue that the club has moved forward quite significantly since those early days thanks to the loyalty, generosity and volunteering spirit of our loyal supporters.
This year we not only celebrate those 1,000 goals, but 110 years of professional football at St. James Park and, for the first time ever, a covered away terrace and, at long last, a brand spanking new grandstand, replacing that which was built way, way back in 1926.
