About The Event

An exciting, interactive one-day accredited training course which introduces the core foundations of community organising – genuine, effective listening which sparks conversation and ignites action, an introduction to the power of community and how to build it, and an exploration of how to organise and motivate people to take effective action together to address common concerns.

Course learning outcomes:
  • To understand the community organising process
  • To understand the importance of listening to build relationships
  • To begin to explore power and power dynamics in communities
  • To appreciate how to motivate people to take action
  • To plan your next steps in community organising

This training is free. It is run by Community Organisers Ltd in association with Supporters Direct. It is funded by DCMS as part of the Community Organisers Expansion programme.

The course trainers are experienced Community Organisers. The course is approved as quality training provision by Certa and as Professional Development by CPD. All participants receive a Certificate of attendance.

This course is part of the national expansion programme for community organising. It is for anyone from a Supporters Direct club with an interest in building stronger communities, motivating people to work together to strengthen accountability and democracy and take collective action for a common cause.

Further one-day courses will be available focusing on practical aspects of the community organising process, plus Award and Certificate qualification courses for those who want to train as fully accredited community organisers.
