Supporters Direct has a dedicated group of staff working with groups across the UK and Europe. Their biographies can be found below.
Ashley Brown - CEO
Ashley is a board member of Pompey Supporters’ Trust and was a Board Director of Portsmouth Football Club during the clubs period of supporter ownership. He was also a member of the Government Expert Working Group on Supporter Ownership and Engagement. He brings 20 years of world class business and management experience to SD, having forged a successful career at IBM and as a business consultant. Since 2010, he been an active member of the Pompey Supporters’ Trust, being one of those who led the raising of nearly £6 million pounds and the supporter takeover of Pompey.
James Mathie - Head of England & Wales and Club Development
James Mathie joined Supporters Direct in 2007, and is currently Head of England & Wales. He specialises in ownership and governance models for Clubs and has supported a number of Clubs across different sports and levels to convert and thrive as community owned entities. He also manages our Community Shares Unit, an innovative way of raising finance which has helped supporters take over their club as well as clubs raise capital for their development. He has a background in sport with a degree in Sports Management and has experience working for Sport England under the Sportsmatch programme. He has over 5 years of practical experience of working with communities and their Clubs with Supporters Direct. He has a post graduate qualification in Corporate Governance and is ILM qualified as a deliverer of Social Enterprise Support.
Andrew Jenkin - Head of SD Scotland
Andrew is Head of SD Scotland and has worked for the organisation since 2012 as Project Manager. He is passionate about using sport, particularly football, for social and community development and in 2011 established the charity Africa on the Ball. He is currently studying part-time for an MSc in Sport Management from the University of Stirling, having previously gained a BA in Journalism. On top of his work with Scottish supporters trusts, he is working with Sandlanders to promote good governance, strong club structures and supporter interests.
Deborah Dilworth - Network Manager (EFL)
Deborah is a Network Manager and has joined SD in March 2017. Deborah joins the Supporters Direct team having recently graduated from the University of Liverpool Football Industries MBA. She has experience across several sectors within the football industry including education, media, sales and coaching and has gained experience working internationally. Deborah is an avid Preston North End fan but is a lover of all football and enjoys going to various games abroad too. Speaking of her role as network manager for the English Football League Deborah states " I am extremely passionate about football as a whole and I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with the football league clubs. The responsibility in supporting trusts and building a strong network within the SD football league community is one I will take great pride in. I look forward to meeting many of the members and continuing the push for supporters to have a strong voice in their clubs".
Jacqui Forster - Head of Casework & Constitutional Affairs
Jacqui Forster joined Supporters Direct in 2003, and is currently Head of Casework & Constitutional Affairs, providing support to trust secretaries in particular. Jacqui is also responsible for carrying out the registration of the rules for new supporters' trusts and as liaison with the Co-op Bank National Relationships on behalf of trusts. Jacqui is currently based in her native North West, and her casework often focuses on supporters' trusts in this region. Prior to joining SD, Jacqui was a senior local government lawyer specialising in land and property and contract transactions. She is also a former lay UNISON Branch Secretary and an activist in the union at local, regional and national level.
Thomas Burnell - Finance Manager
Tom is our Finance manager and has been with SD since May 2016. He is responsible for all our finance and account reporting and requirements, and arrived from England Netball where he carried out a similar role.
Mark Reid - Project Manager, SD Scotland
Mark joined SD Scotland in October 2012, as Project Manager. He most recently worked at Celtic FC as a Senior Football Development Officer where he oversaw Celtic’s UK wide grassroots football programmes. He has also co-ordinated and delivered Football programmes around the world in India, Australia, USA, Canada, Ireland, Kuwait. Mark has a BSc in Sport Studies from Paisley University.
Nicola Hudson - Network Manager (Non-league football, rugby league & other sports)
Nicola Hudson is a Network Manager at Supporters Direct, having joined in 2015. She is based in the North West of England. Nicola is passionate about sport, particularly football at a non-league level, being a lifelong avid supporter of her local team Southport FC and is also a big fan of live music and theatre. In her spare time Nicola plays for a local amateur netball team, where she attempts to re-live the glory days of her teens!!
Richard Irving - Office Manager & Communications Assistant
Richard joined Supporters Direct in July 2017. He was one of the founder members of the Arsenal Supporters Trust and volunteers regularly for supporter owned Lewes FC.
Vicki Goodfellow - Network Coordinator
Vicki is Network Coordinator at Supporters Direct, having joined in 2007. She is responsible for the organisation of all major events and manages the members' membership renewal process.
Vicki joined Supporters Direct from her previous role at the London Transport Museum, where she began as a receptionist, eventually becoming Marketing and Events Officer and finally Project Assistant in the redevelopment of the Museum, which reopened late in 2007 after an extensive refit.
