The “baby brother” of the Brian Lomax SD Cup, the SD Shield is an annual fixture held between two Supporter-Owned football clubs to celebrate the role supporters’ play in owning and supporting their own football clubs up and down the country.

The fixture has moved around the country with AFC Rushden and Diamonds, Tonbridge Angels and Peacehaven and Telscombe all victorious.

SD have been helping supporters have a voice at their club for 18 years and we are privileged to be able to play a part in helping over 50 of our members own their clubs from League 1 side AFC Wimbledon, right down the football pyramid and into other sports too.

The model may not be perfect, but supporters of both clubs will know the importance of controlling your own destiny and owning your own club, particularly when faced with the alternative. Supporter-owned clubs have enjoyed some big successes on and off the pitch in recent years.

We hope the SD Shield can continue to be a celebration for everyone who has put their hand up to help because supporter-owned clubs have helped inspire others SD have worked with to follow their path.
